HOW NINE NUMBERS CAN BE PLAYED
HOW DO YOU PLAY
9 NUMBERS
IN A 6-NUMBER LOTTO?
A Lotto line still contains 6 numbers. Nine numbers simply create more unique 6-number lines.
PLAYING 9 NUMBERS
UNIQUE 6-NUMBER LINES
Play every unique group of six from the nine. Every possible group is covered once.
WHY 84?
C(9,6) = 84. Each different choice of six is one standard Lotto line.
Wider combination coverage can mean multiple winning lines from the same round. Explore every line, including 2 Matched.
The example counts main-number matches, with the bonus ball outside your nine. If your nine include the bonus ball, the five-main-match example splits into 1 × 5+Bonus and 3 × Match 5; the six-main-match example splits into 6 × 5+Bonus and 12 × Match 5. These are line counts, not promises of monetary prizes. The demonstration is separate from historical cash values and legacy Match 2 treatment.
THE JACKPOT CONNECTION
INSIDE YOUR 9
When all six drawn numbers are inside the nine-number set, one of the 84 six-number combinations is the exact six-number jackpot line.
Lotto’s jackpot rule does not change. The winning line still matches all six main numbers.
MORE COVERAGE HAS A COST

84 LINES SOUNDS LIKE A LOT.

WHAT DOES 1 IN 45 MILLION ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
Illustrative scale based on a playing-card thickness of approximately 0.32 mm. Actual card thickness varies.
Landmark heights share one metre-based scale. The card face, stack width and aircraft symbol are diagrammatic, not to scale. This is an illustrative physical metaphor.
THE SCALE ASSUMPTION
45,057,474 × 0.32 mm = 14,418.39168 m, approximately 14.4 km. This is not a measurement of a real stack.
Landmark heights: UK Parliament, Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa.
EXACT ODDS BY RESULT
Detailed odds are awaiting verification. Nine-number overlap probability, the chance of at least one winning line, and the number of winning lines are different measures. A verified table will distinguish them.

DATA & METHODOLOGY
WHY DOES OUR HISTORY START ON 10 OCTOBER 2015?
The first Lotto draw using the expanded 6/59 format took place on 10 October 2015, following the change from 6/49. Our analysis starts there to use the same 6/59 number space as today’s game. Earlier 6/49 draws are not included.

Results use the recorded UK Lotto draws available in this dataset.
Each round is evaluated separately. A two-round draw is one paid draw event, with winnings from both rounds included. Historical cash values apply to the draw in which a match occurred.
Match 2 occurrences are counted throughout the historical analysis. Cash is included only for draws where a Match 2 monetary prize was available. Nine-number totals count qualifying six-number lines; one round can produce several winning lines.
This is a retrospective historical comparison, not a forecast or an independent test of future returns.
RESPONSIBLE PLAY
Historical results do not predict future Lotto draws. Draws are random. Playing more lines means spending more money. Never spend more than you can afford to lose.
